Antiochian Orthodox
Chapel of Cumberland

What is the Eastern Orthodox Church?

It is ancient, reverent, traditional, mystical, trinitarian, apostolic, liturgical, evangelical but not Protestant, catholic but not Roman. This website was developed to support Orthodox Christians and those who desire to know more about the Orthodox faith. The geographical region of western Maryland and the Potomac Highlands has historically been isolated from the Orthodox world. However, in recent years there has been renewed interest in Eastern Orthodoxy and many parts of the U.S. are seeing tremendous numbers of new converts come to the ancient faith. Locally, several individuals began meeting in November 2022 to celebrate the monthly Divine Liturgy in Cumberland. By God’s grace and provision, this dedicated group has evolved into a thriving Orthodox faith community.
